Background facts:

The Club racquet is a heavy example of a model from the years following the First World War. Its concave wedge design would soon become standard. The solid wood frame and relatively dense stringing reflect construction practices of the immediate post-war period. The piece was donated by Gerald Gurney and shows a fine, consistent patina.
