Background facts:

Ormond was one of the oldest British companies to manufacture tennis racquets. It was known for the high quality of its products. The Challenge model reflects the brand’s ambition to offer solid construction and international appeal at the end of the 19th century.

Surviving trade references indicate that Ormond supplied its tennis equipment exclusively to the German market. British sporting goods held a strong reputation in the German Empire, and imported items were presented as premium products.
